DigitalOcean Ubuntu 18.04 Droplet

DigitalOcean Ubuntu 18.04 droplets?

Last updated on | 4 replies

DigitalOcean Ubuntu 18.04 Droplets are now available as of 27th April 2018.

Ubuntu Server 18.04 LTS (Bionic Beaver) guides are now being prepared and will appear below.

Original question: Do you have an ETA on when Ubuntu 18.04 LTS droplets will be available on DigitalOcean?

Response from DigitalOcean: At this time we would not have an ETA to provide for 18.04 images. In this case we would need to wait for the final and stable release, perform our own internal testing and once stable provide an image for it. The Final release for 18.04 is on April 26th, 2018. With that in mind the image will at the very least be after this point. You can find additional information about the release from Ubuntu here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/BionicBeaver/ReleaseSchedule

Happy Coding!

    1. Not sure when, you could try emailing them.

In the meantime, you can upgrade your 18.04 droplet to 18.04.1 with

sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade

      Once upgraded, check version with

      lsb_release -a

  1. Do-release-upgrade is still saying no new versions available, I don’t want a development release, do you know when upgrade via the terminal will be available?
